Moraira's Moors and Christians Programme
Below a detailed programme of this years Moors and Christians fiestas. All are invited to watch and join in with the fun! Enjoy.
Friday 3rd June
19:30h. Opening of the Medieval Andalusian Market.
Saturday 4th June
12:00h. Gathering of Moors and Christians in the Urban Forest and preparation of the brotherhood meal. All enlivened by the charanga "Bataclán de Jalón".
Monday 6th June
20:00h. Concert by the British Choir in the Parish Church of Moraira.
Wednesday 8th June
20:00h. Announcement of the beginning of the fiestas. Concert by "Colla El Falçó", "Associació de Dolçainers i Tabaleters de Teulada" and "Agrupació Musical Cultural de Teulada" in Doctor Calatayud Street. Prize-giving ceremony for the drawing competition.
Thursday 9th June
19:30h. Concentration of all the filas in El Fortí and parade to the Castle Esplanade, accompanied by "Colla El Falçó", "Associació de Dolçainers i Tabaleters de Teulada" and "Colla La Llebetjà" from Poble Nou de Benitatxell .
20:00h. Presentation of each Moors and Christian fila on the Castle esplanade. At the end, brotherhood dinner.
Friday 10th June
13:00h. Concentration of all the filas in El Fortí and parade with harquebusiers.
13:30h. Arquebus firing on the Castle Esplanade.
19:15h. Offering of flowers in honour of the "Santísimo Cristo de Moraira" in the Castle Chapel.
22:30h. Parade of the Moors and Christians to the beach.
23:00h. Moorish Conquest on the beach of La Ampolla, followed by the Moorish Embassy and Conquest of Moraira Castle. Afterwards "Night of Capitanías".
Saturday 11th June
08:00h. General awakening with arquebuses and charanga (musical band).
11:00h. Concentration of all the filas in El Fortí and parade with pennants.
12:00h. Mass in honour of the "Santísimo Cristo" in the Parish Church of Moraira and parade.
13:30h. Firing of arquebuses in the Castle Esplanade and informal parade of the filas.
19:30h. Parade of the Moors and Christians to the beach.
20:00h. Christian Re-conquest on the beach of La Ampolla. Assault on Moraira Castle by the Christian side followed by the Christian Embassy and Re-conquering of the Castle.
00:00h Popular retreat from El Fortí through the town. Back on arrival to El Fortí the "Night of Cábilas" starts with a performance by the orchestra LA METRO in the Avenida del Portet. All invited.
Sunday 12th June
08:00h. General awakening with arquebuses.
12:00h. Parade with arquebuses from El Fortí to Castle Esplanade.
12:30h. Firing of arquebuses on the Castle Esplanade.
19:00h. Entrance of Musical Bands from the Castle to El Fortí.
20:00h. "Grand Gala Parade" of the Moors and Christians. There will be a fireworks display at the end of the parade.
