The province is ready to host this weekend the official start of La Vuelta 19, a unique sporting show that in its 74th edition will cover more than 60 municipalities and about 400 kilometers of the Alicante geography. The Costa Blanca takes on special relevance this year by starring in the first three stages of the race whose layout, with numerous unpublished enclaves, combines high and mountain ports with plains and urban or beach areas.
The more than 170 runners and the technical team that make up the caravan of this event - around 3,000 people - are already arriving in Moraira, where on Thursday, August 22 at 7:15 p.m. the Equipment Presentation Gala will take place at the emblematic castle of the town.
“This is an event of enormous international repercussion that is celebrated prior to the official departure of the event,” explained the acting president of the Diputación de Alicante, Julia Parra, who has invited all citizens to join this great party "That will combine culture, tourism and sport and that will have a spectacular staging with the intervention of the Alicante rapper Arkano, protagonist of the promotional spot of the race."
The event, fully open to the public, will also be broadcast live for everyone through Teledeporte. "We wanted to bring the gala to the whole society and, therefore, for the first time, there will be no access restrictions for the public or VIP areas," said the provincial head.
Once the names of the riders who will compete this year for the prestigious red jersey are known, La Vuelta 19 will start shooting on Saturday 24 with an 18-kilometer team time trial, which will have its start and finish in the extraordinary environment of the Salinas de Torrevieja. The rhythm and the tactical component will be decisive in this urban day, eminently flat.
